One thing I do to fight burnout and stay fired up as a stylist and educator is to pursue education for myself. Nothing is more inspiring to me than networking with other beauty professionals at industry trade shows, classes, and networking events.
Our industry events are like the Grammys! Beautiful people, amazing energy, awesome outfits, and premier education. Events like the North American Hairstyling Awards, TrendVision and the Beauty Education Awards, and the International Beauty Show are at the top of my list.
To see the type of color and styling work that continues to just elevate and evolve every year is truly incredible. It gets me fired up to go back to the salon and try new things and to push my team to be relentless in their creative and technical work behind the chair.
And it’s always fun to rub shoulders with the “Who’s Who” In the industry that come from places all over the world!
This weekend, I’ll not only be teaching at the International Beauty Show in Las Vegas, but will be there as a fan. I will be presenting my Curl College Curriculum, which is all about editorial color, cutting, and styling for textured hair.
When I’m not teaching, I’m excited to attend the presentations of Monae Everett and Keya Neal, two of my favorites.
I’ll make time to walk the show floor and see all the exhibitors and the new products. I’m looking to get a new diffuser and ceramic flat iron … so will definitely be hitting up Dyson!
Oliver Adams will be teaching “3D Balayage,” “Runway Curls,” and “Capitalize on Coloring Natural Hair” at the International Beauty Show-Las Vegas from June 22-24.
