Celebrity Stylist Chris Naselli Cites Fun, Upcoming Hair Trends

Christopher Naselli is one of the newest Biotera stylist ambassadors. With a chic salon, Naselli & Co., in New York City, Naselli is an expert on red carpet styling, as well as editorial and advertising styling.

Here, he shares with American Salon what he's seeing in terms of trends, and what we'll see during the upcoming awards season.

What’s starting to trend now, in terms of cuts and techniques, and what do you expect to see more of in 2023?
There are many new fun trends that we are going to start to see in the next few months. One of my favorites going into 2023 is the French Bob: It's fun, flirty and very sexy. It’s cut at the chin line, with a defined design line; it's textured throughout the interior of the head to give an effortless feel of softness and movement.

I’m still a huge fan of bottle neck bangs, when paired with the French bob together it's really beautiful and will make the perfect statement for 2023. For me, the this style is all about bringing out the individual's personality and working with their natural textures.

Another trend that I’m loving is the new modern, blown-out, brushed- out waves. It's a little ‘70’s inspired, and it's full volume with a ton of texture and movement. Think beach waves, all brushed out.

If you want to be a bit edgy, a great trend and a favorite of mine is the modern shag/mullet. It's one of the most versatile haircuts. The shape compliments most and it’s the perfect haircut to work in your natural texture.

And of course, one of my favorites trends for 2023 is beautiful bold hair color, rich reds. I’ve always been a huge fan of red hair but this season it’s a softer, more golden red than the deep Irish Setter reds of the past. I love Biotera Ultra Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner to maintain that rich bold color.

How have your clients come out of the pandemic? What are their new needs? Or do you see things going back to the old "normal" of 2019?
I think coming out of the pandemic people have the desire to feel normal again, they want to invest in good quality products and they want change. I’ve recently fallen in love with Biotera Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner; it is infused with Pre + Post Biotics and Marula Oil ingredients that will provide incredible hydration and nourishment. It's quickly becoming a client favorite.
People are being seen again in the world, they're not stuck behind a computer. It’s the perfect time to experiment and change up your style, whether you are in NY or LA, people feel the same.

In terms of the celebrity perspective, what is your vision for the next awards season and red carpet looks?
In terms of celebrity, I think it's going to be an amazing awards season with bold and strong looks. Lots of deep side part styles, low sexy ponytails, and beautiful vintage looks.
