With the shag in the limelight again, Ruth Roche highlights specific techniques to keep your short hair guests on trend. She creates a short shag with a square shape and rounded perimeter, and then texturizes to create the iconic separation and movement.
Get the look:
- Separate the fringe area and cut it at the bridge of the nose.
- Take a horizontal sub-section and cut a 1" section in the center.
- Place your fingers on the bridge of the nose for guidance and cut a blunt line.
- Angle your fingers down slightly as you move outward.
- To cut layers from the top section, take a 1" section all the way to the back of the crown and comb the hair straight up. Use the "point" area of the crown as your guide and cut a blunt line.
- Be sure to follow your guide and not the fringe when working with the top section.
- Now, work in a vertical section down the center back and pull the top section back as a guide. Cut straight line up and down.
- Once desired shape is achieved, go in and cut a rounded perimeter and add texture throughout.
