The Thom Browne Autumn/Winter 2023 Collection was inspired by the story "The Little Prince" and the characters throughout. Session Stylist, James Pecis used Oribe Hair Care products to create looks to represent each character in the story.
Just before the show, American Salon caught up with Pecis to chat about the creative process and execution for the hairstyles. “Working with Tom is a luxury because I get to talk with him, maybe two weeks or more ahead of time, and then I start by developing either sketches or references, and then we have more meetings, and we kind of narrow it down,” Pecis told us.
Because the look for the show was based on “The Little Prince,” there were many characters to interpret (including the Little Prince himself), the aviator, 24 asteroids, the adults in the story, the snake, four roses (one was a special rose), seven planets, an elephant and a fox.
Pecis says that Browne prefers to work from a conceptual perspective rather than being too literal. Citing an example of that, he told us that the look for the seven planets had a retro vibe, inspired by a 1950’s photo of Browne’s mother with a bouffant hairstyle.

As a side note, the makeup played an integral look to the show. Isamaya Ffrench, representing MAC Cosmetics, rose to the task. Some of the characters, namely the snake and the elephant, had more personalized and dramatic eye makeup sweeping up to the hairline.
