Jenna Ortega's co-starring role with Sabrina Carpenter in the singer's campy "Taste" music video has taken over the Internet, with 35 million views on YouTube alone in its first week of release.
Celebrity stylist Bobby Eliot gave the Beetlejuice 2 star her bouncy bouffant mane for the iconic horror-film-inspired video directed by Dave Meyers.
Ortega, the "Gen Z scream queen," was a clear choice for the role as Carpenter's mortal enemy, as the two murder each other in a cascade of creative ways before sharing a steamy kiss.
"We wanted the hair to feel like Death Becomes Her," Eliot said, referencing the black-comedy film that was one of the video's inspirations. "Full glamour, and over-the-top!"
Step-by-Step
Here is how Eliot created the style:
- I started off by blow-drying Jenna’s hair with a round brush for full volume, focusing on lots of root lift.
- Next, I secured in halo extensions (The Hair Shop Volume Veil, color 1-Jet Black) with the clip-in attachments.
- Using a Marcel iron, I pinned and set the hair.
- After letting her hair cool and set, I brushed out the set and sculpted the hair.
