Aveda has released its latest editorial collection: Poise by Allen Ruiz, the brand's Global Artistic Director for Hairstyling.
The collection, shot in black-and-white, draws inspiration from the iconic looks of 90s supermodels.
Poise "pays homage to the timeless elegance and artistry of classic hairdressing, seamlessly blending modern sensibilities with a bold, larger-than-life aesthetic," the brand says.
Also inspiring the collection are "the surreal doll-like aesthetics recently seen on high-fashion runways, and the nostalgic yet modern vibes of contemporary cinema," Aveda says.
Ruiz says, "My aim with Poise was to create a collection that not only showcases the artistry and skill involved in hairstyling, but also tells a story of strength and elegance through each look."
His decision to shoot in black-and-white was inspired by the works of photographers Herb Ritts and Peter Lindbergh, "who masterfully captured the essence of their subjects through stark contrasts and evocative imagery," Ruiz says.
