Wine-inspired hair colors are all the rage this winter, and for good reason. The merlot, bordeaux and cabernet hues are suitable for all skin tones; they provide face-framing contrast, and they're perfect for clients who want to experiment with red tones but aren't brave enough to dive right in. Allie Villa (@allievilla), stylist and owner of Mimi's Salon in Belmar, New Jersey created a beautiful shade that's reminiscent of a full-bodied wine and tasty pomegranate—combined. Formula and Steps
- Pre-lighten by painting the whole head in big sections using 30 volume Redken Free Hand.
- Process for 30 minutes.
- Mix equal parts Joico Magenta with Pravana Wild Orchid. Add a bit of Pravana Black to deepen the color more.
- Apply as a glaze and let process for 20 minutes. Wash with cold water and rinse.
