MY SALON Suite continues its brisk growth in beauty co-working spaces across the U.S. with the recent acquisition of the luxury Mera Salon and Spa Suites in Louisiana.
The salon-suite franchise company, which launched in 2012, has added or acquired 43 locations across the U.S. in 2023. It celebrated a milestone 300th location opening in December 2023.
It began its growth acceleration in 2021 when MY SALON Suite was acquired by the Propelled Brands corporation, along with sister company Salon Plaza.
MY SALON Suite is among the top three largest salon-suite franchise companies in North America, rapidly closing in on Phenix Salon Suites as the second largest, with Sola Salon Studios in first place.
The company says it plans to continue its rapid expansion plan for 2024, targeting further acquisitions and conversions of independent salon suites, as well as multi-unit franchise signings.
Mera Salons & Spas’ two locations in the greater Baton Rouge area will rebrand as MY SALON Suite and join six of the company’s existing locations in Louisiana.
"We had a thriving and successful business and were not looking to sell,” said Mera owner Blair Clouatre, “but when MY SALON Suite shared their national vision and the opportunities they can provide for our employees and suite owners, we decided to consider an offer."
The micro-business model for licensed beauty and grooming professionals began on a large scale in 2004, when Sola launched its first dedicated salon-suite building.
The concept grew steadily over the years as franchise companies began offering such amenities to its renters as customizable suites, business education, and other support to “solopreneurs.”
The number of salon and barbershop professionals going independent boomed after the pandemic, generating several new salon-suite locations in North America and worldwide.
