It's hard to fathom the level of devastation bearing down on Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Days after the storm’s initial landfall on August 25, the destruction is far from finished. Some areas have received more than 20 inches of rain, and since the rain is expected to continue for the next two to three days, some locations could see close to 50 inches of rain before the storm ends.
If you’re a salon owner in the area and don’t know where to turn to for assistance, or if you just want to help, the Professional Beauty Association Disaster Relief Fund is here for you. Created by the National Cosmetology Association in 1955, The PBA Disaster Relief Fund donates all money raised to assist salon professionals with much needed funds following a natural disaster.
“The PBA Disaster Relief Fund is a perfect way for our industry to come together and help support fellow beauty professionals in their time of need,” states Steve Sleeper, Executive Director of the Professional Beauty Association.
All funds are are intended to serve as quick cash on hand for short-term, immediate needs, such as clothing, food, bills, etc. The fund is not intended for long-term rebuilding of salons. If you or someone you know is in need of immediate aid, The PBA Disaster Relief Fund is accepting both applications for aid and donations online now at probeauty.org/drf.
