A little over a week ago, Hurricane Harvey tore through Texas and Louisana—the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Charley in 2004. The Category 4 hurricane left 50 inches of rain in some locations, leaving countless people without homes and other major necessities.
With several Paul Mitchell Schools in Texas and Louisiana, Winn Claybaugh, Dean of Paul Mitchell Schools, was grateful and relieved to learn that the schools are safe but sad to hear that many of their students and staff have been personally affected. To immediately help beauty industry colleagues in need, Paul Mitchell Schools are raising money for the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, which will then be donated to the Professional Beauty Association's Disaster Relief Fund.

Claybaugh's message to Paul Mitchell Schools owners was to reach a goal of $100,000 this week and a total of $200,000 by the end of September. Only a week later, Paul Mitchell Schools have already raised over $63,000.
How YOU can help:
- If you work in a salon, use your salon team and client base to raise money and ask for donations.
- Reach out to your manufacturer partners and encourage them to donate in case they haven’t already done so.
- Contact salons and other businesses you have a good relationship with and ask them to donate.
- As for raising funds to support those in need outside the beauty industry, you can always choose to donate to any legitimate organization.
About: At Paul Mitchell Schools, courses focus on important technical skills and business knowledge with an emphasis on social and community responsibility. The school's learning leaders are trained to draw out the artist in our students and prepare them to enter their chosen careers as community-conscious salon, spa, and barbering professionals. Through their annual “FUNraising” campaign, they've raised and donated over $18.2 million in support of many charitable causes. Additionally, they've built homes with Habitat for Humanity, fed thousands of African orphans, and supported the victims of AIDS, breast cancer, homelessness, abuse, and hundreds of other causes.
