Behind-the-Scenes at Luxury Brand Partners Front Row

Welcome to the Coachella of the hair world,” announced Tev Finger, CEO of Luxury Brand Partners, describing Front Row, a festival-style extravaganza of education, entertainment and inspiration that took place in Miami’s historic Wynwood Art District in January. The one-of-a-kind event showcased an array of cutting-edge talent from Oribe Hair Care, R+Co, V76 by Vaughn and Smith & Cult, as well as appearances by Eden Sassoon, Vivienne Mackinder and Nicci Welsh. The four-day affair kicked off with a documentary screening of The Reset, hairstylist and filmmaker Howard McLaren’s highly anticipated look into the beauty industry. On Main Stage, the Oribe Hair Care creative team, including Ronnie Stam and Joey George, crafted looks inspired by Miami’s Wynwood Walls, known for their colorful graffiti. James Pecis deconstructed runway and editorial looks, while Vaughn Acord and the V76 team addressed the explosion in men’s grooming. The R+Co Collective—Howard McLaren, Garren and Thom Priano—closed out Main Stage, demonstrating the iconic looks of our generation. Other highlights: a class featuring the stars of Butterfly Circus and an appearance by best-selling author Jim Collins, who spoke about the challenge of managing creatives while maintaining discipline. Simon Doonan, creative director of Barneys New York, was also invited to talk about the importance of window dressing. “We do this to celebrate the craft of hairdressing—to inspire and elevate our industry because change starts with education, learning and implementation,” said Dan Kaner, co-president of Oribe Hair Care. “Let’s be the generation that got it right in the hair industry.” From the looks of it, they’re well on their way.
