Hair art—be it geometric shapes, intricate lines or realistic portraits–is taking the barber world by storm. That’s why the crowd at IBS New York (@ibs_shows) was thrilled to see four of the industry’s top barbers from BaBylissPRO (@babylissprousa): Rob Ferrel (@robtheoriginal); Dennis Joseph (@dennisjosephbabyliss); Frank Soto (@frankdabarber); and Harry Houdini (@houdinistyle). Each barber broke down a different hair design style; highlighting which BaBylissPRO tools work best for each situation. Joseph showed the crowed his simple method of using black and white drawings—easily indicating negative space—to assist in imagining a hair design. Soto showed off his precise fade skills. Houdini highlighted how to be creative, even when a client doesn’t want to cut off too much hair. And Ferrel wowed the crowed with an on-the-spot hair portrait of The Notorious B.I.G. Their smart mix of barbering and cosmetology skills gave the audience invaluable information that they’re sure to use at home.
