Autumn 2024 Hair Color Trends for Men

As we recently saw at the Olympics, men are getting bolder with their style choices, and it's amazing! Here are a few of my favorite "outside the box" men's hair color trends for autumn.

Lilac Tones

For men looking for a more daring hair color, lilac is a great choice for those with blond hair already, or those looking for a complete change and are happy to have their hair pre-lightened.

On a clean, white base, a subtle glimmer of lilac will inject some fun into the look and provide a cool and edgy finish for the new season.

This tone will blend out well back to blond, but make sure your client uses a violet toning shampoo (such as Pure Brazilian Always Blonde Shampoo) to ensure the color lasts.

Highlights & Frosted Tips

Men's Hair Color Trends for Autumn - Highlights and Frosted Tips

Coming at you from the vaults of the 1990s-early 2000s! Back then, celebrities and boy-band members paired the color with spikes or a super-sleek, almost wet finish to enhance the look.

Frosted tips and blond highlights are both back for 2024 for men looking to add some color and dimension, but this time around it's with a more subtle, blended finish.

Blond shades are a lot more toned down, using a cool/ ash toner to create a softer, more wearable finish.

Power Platinum

Men's Hair Color Trends for Autumn - Platinum

Platinum can instantly elevate a client's haircut to make more of a trend-setting statement. I particularly love teaming a platinum hue with a super short, textured cut for added edge.

After taking clients to this clean, ice-white hue, be sure to spend some time with them discussing color upkeep at home.

Hair-care products designed to eliminate yellow/ brassy tones are a must, and not just shampoo — conditioners, masks, and styling products as well. Some go-tos are Hairstory's Purple Color Boost, PHYTO's Purple Repairing No Yellow Mask, and Moroccanoil's Treatment Purple.

Rich Chocolate Hues

Let's step back into the more traditional style lane, where hair colors get warmer as the weather gets colder. Rich chocolate hues will be a huge trend throughout the season, as they are flattering on most complexions and look incredibly healthy and lustrous.

Clients who want to enhance a chocolate base can experiment by adding caramel-toned highlights for added warmth and dimension.
