“The inspiration for the Proenza Schouler look this season was ‘Portraits of a Woman,’” said Guido Palau, lead hairstylist for Bumble and bumble. “This encompasses different moments of life whether it be going to work, walking, meeting friends for coffee—the simple moments. Their beauty and realness are enhanced through a few select hair products to bring out their raw, genuine and natural sense of selves. The Proenza Schouler runway this season houses authentic women—capable of anything, who journey through life with a natural flare.”
Paying tribute to the women in their lives, the show is a day in the life of this woman, told 40 different ways. It is a portrait of an attitude, a feeling, a sensibility, a way of dressing, and ultimately of a woman herself.
Styling Methods:
Guido created portraits of New York women on the go. The hairstyles are all about individuality and embracing individual, carefree hair texture.
To start with a clean base, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo and Conditioner was used to wash hair.
After towel-drying hair, a few drops of Bb.Bond-Building Repair Oil Serum (launched February 12) is worked from mid-lengths to ends to calm frizz and smooth cuticles, adding in a “kiss of nourishment.” For dry or curly textures, this serum was also paired with Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer. After preparing hair, Don’t Blow it (Fine) or Don’t Blow It (Thick) is used as a styler to enhance natural hair texture while air-drying.
Pro Tip: By tucking hair behind the model’s ears, their natural movement is encouraged to emerge.
Once hair is dry, a loose ponytail is secured with an elastic band.
