Salma Hayek’s Oscar red carpet hair was “inspired by the rock and roll feel of her dress.” Celebrity hairstylist Jennifer Yepez worked to achieve the more “undone and natural look” Salma wanted that still had “lots of texture”. The goal was “a cool, rock and roll hairstyle vibe with fringe on her ends.” Salma wanted her hair “to feel free and bring the va va voom to the red carpet.”
Get the Look
- Step 1: Jennifer prepped the hair by spraying the Verb Glossy Shine Spray With Heat Protection from the mid-shafts to the ends. Jennifer noted that Salma has naturally curly hair, so this product was specifically helpful with adding moisture to the hair.
- Step 2: She blow-dried the hair with a big round brush, and created sections with the hair.
- Step 3: After separating the hair into sections, she combined a blend of Bellami Silk Seam 26” Volumizing Weft in Dark Brown and Mochachino Brown extensions to match the two colors in her hair, and then cut them to seamlessly blend the extensions within the hair while adding layers of volume to create an overall full, glamorous look.
- Step 4: Jennifer used a flat iron to make “S” waves in different directions and applied Verb Ghost Oil throughout her natural hair and the Bellami Extensions to add texture and to scrunch the ends of Salma’s hair to create some separation in the overall texture.
- Step 5: To further achieve a separated texture, Jennifer sprayed the Verb Dry Texture Spray all over. Finally, she used the Verb Ghost Hairspray to tame any loose fly-aways. Both products were also used to achieve the fabulous waves on her daughter and Oscar date, Valentina.
