“It’s always exciting when you get to cut fresh fringe on someone who doesn’t have any bangs,” explains Karla Valenzuela, Sam Villa ambassador and Redken artist @kolor.me. karlaa. She recently had a guest request natural looking highlights with a long curtain bang and this is how she did it.
“I like to do all the last details and texturizing on dry hair because it’s easy to see how the hair is laying and helps prevent me from removing too much length or weight,” she says.
Long Curtain Fringe
- Blow dry hair with Redken One United leave-in conditioner, Frizz Dismiss Instant Deflate Oil-in-Serum, and a Sam Villa Artist Series Professional Blow Dryer and Signature Series Oval Brush Medium.
- Section by starting out from the top of the head and the corner of the eyebrows.
- Over direct the left section of the fringe all the way to the right side, drop the elevation close to the cheek bone with a 45° finger angle (shortest side pointing towards the face).
- Use Sam Villa Signature Series 6.5” Reversible Blending Shears to cut the fringe by opening and closing the shears until all the hair is cut off. These shears help create a soft cutting line.
- Use Sam Villa Artist Series 6” Slide Cutting Shears to slide cut through the fringe to remove more bulk.
- To style, round brush the fringe one more time with a small round brush to give a little bend.
