Celebrity hairstylist Marc Mena styled Mindy Kaling for the 2023 Met Gala using TRESemmé Haircare products.
The inspiration: “We wanted to go with something classic, clean and elegant for the look tonight. To pay tribute to Karl’s iconic hair, we opted for an ultra-long center-parted pony. We wanted this look to stand the test of time whether it be the day after the MET or ten years down the line”
The breakdown:
- Marc started by applying Great Lengths Tape-In Extensions in shades 1b (deep espresso to brown) and 2 (true espresso brown) to Mindy’s hair at the root.
- After the Great Lengths Tape-In Extensions were applied to the whole head, Marc took thinning sheers to the very ends to further blend the extensions with Mindy’s natural hair to complete the installation.
- Marc sprayed down the hair with water before applying TRESemmé One Step Blowout from top to bottom to help protect from frizz and add shine before blow drying the hair with a middle part.
- “TRESemmé One Step Blowout was the hero product that helped me create a pony that is an entity in and of itself on the red carpet. One Step Blowout is an excellent heat protector while also adding substantial shine and reducing any frizz”
- Once dry, Marc added TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum to the hair to add even more shine before brushing into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck.
- Marc secured the hair with a bungee and then wrapped a piece of hair around the bungee to conceal. He then added a Jennifer Behr crystal ponytail holder to finish the ponytail.
- Marc finished the look by spraying the hair from top to bottom with TRESemmé Extra Hold Hair Spray to lock in the look and prevent any fly-aways.
