At the 95th annual Oscar Awards, world renowned actress, singer, and dancer, Ariana DeBose stunned on the carpet upon arrival. The past Academy Award winner channeled the epitome of timeless, classy, glamour in a sleek low bun created by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew for Matrix.
Inspiration:
Elegant and timeless glamour.
“Ariana wore a classic and elegant, yet eye-catching Versace dress. I wanted her hair to compliment this esthetic, so I went with a classy and timeless side part chignon bun with a molded front. The final look was giving expensive, classic beauty,” said Takisha Sturdivant-Drew.
Sturdivant-Drew Explains How to Get the Look:
1. To prep Ariana’s hair, I began by shampooing with Matrix Instacure Shampoo to repair and strengthen, and then followed up with Matrix Instacure Conditioner to soften and smooth her hair. This left me with the perfect base for styling!
2. Next, I combed through all of her hair and parted it so I could add in some TSD Hair Extensions. This helped add volume, length, and thickness to the bun. I pulled all the hair to the back of her head, smoothing as I went, and put it into a ponytail that I could manipulate into the shape I wanted.
3. To achieve that gorgeous sleek, “wet” look, I used Matrix Fixer Spray all over, but especially on the top and wherever there were a lot of flyaways. While I went in with the hairspray, I strategically placed clips around the top and sides of her head to mold and shape the hair how I wanted.
4. Then I shaped the ponytail into an orientation I liked and laid it flat against her head, using Matrix Builder Wax Spray to shape it even further and hold it in place.
5. Finally, I finished everything off with a combination of the Fixer Spray and Builder Wax Spray, going in with a little brush to smooth all the stray flyaways and make sure every strand was set for an eventful night!
