Last night was a big one for red carpet looks and we've out how to get the look breakdown for Dove Cameron styled by Clayton Hawkins at American Music Awards.
Hawkins used Tangle Teezer and SexyHair to create her Jedi braids moment with a snatched back ponytail—the perfect compliment to her “alien supermodel” look!
“I started by applying Healthy SexyHair Love Hair Oil to Dove’s damp hair and detangling her locks with my Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Detangler. I then went in with a round brush and blew out her hair to start getting it as smooth as possible,” said Hawkins.
“For a snatched pony, I like to do it in 2 sections and start with a half up pony. I started by saturating her hairline in Big SexyHair Spray and Stay Intense Hold Hairspray to the point it was damp. I then grabbed my Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Styler (my favorite brush for ponytails because it creates NO bumps) and brushed her hair into the half pony, securing with an elastic. Once the hair was secure, I repeated this process on the bottom section; spraying, brushing, and adding the hair to the top ponytail with a second elastic,” Hawkins continued, adding, “I then saturated a small section of her hair from the pony in the Big SexyHair Spray and Stay Hairspray and wrapped it around the base of the pony to cover the elastics and secured with a hair pin.”
“To finish the look, I sprayed Healthy SexyHair Re-Dew Conditioning Dry Oil & Restyler for extra shine! I gave the ponytail one last brush with my favorite Tangle Teezer The Wide Tooth Comb and she was ready to go!” Hawkins concluded.
