It’s said that great minds think alike and creative minds think together. Both of those ideas were in play when acclaimed hair artist Karine Jackson joined forces with photographer Andrew O’Toole to create her latest body of work for Organic Colour Systems earlier this year.

“Andrew and I are both from Australia and have worked together on winning collections for more than 10 years,” says Jackson. “We’ve got a great relationship and know how each other works, inside out. Our mindsets and ideas are very similar when it come to creating great collections that express what our brands are all about, which is hair that moves.”
Ozdare Studios, where the shoot took place, gets abundant natural light.
To create the collection, Jackson arrived bright and early at Ozdare Studios in Melbourne, Australia, and immediately set to work creating gorgeous hues on eight different models, including a moody steel shade on our cover model.

“When creating the looks, I used the term ‘apricity’ as my inspiration,” which describes the warmth of the sun in winter, says Jackson. Playing off that theme, she crafted free-flowing styles in gorgeous hues that look as if they had been caught in the winter sun.
“We worked with color flashing, using all-over color and drawing out flashes by adding free-hand Naturlite over the top to resemble sun fade,” she says. “Working with eight models made for a long day, but seeing months of hard work and planning come together to create a beautiful collection is the best part.”
