Fashion Week is in full swing here in New York City, and lucky for us, it's not only about the clothes. Runway hair plays an prominent role in the fashion world, complementing and highlighting different aspects of different shows. At the Raf Simons Men's Fall 2018 show, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau capitalized on individual edge to match the collection's dark aura.
“We’ve characterized the guys this season at Raf based on the movie Christiane F. We’ve given trims, we’ve cut bangs, its individual. It is not one look; it’s a bit more edgy and individual. I’m using the new Redken Brews Clay Pomade to flatten the hair down and make it look lived-in and matte, like you’ve been out all night at the club," Palau says.
To add to the individual flare, Redken Global Color Creative Director Josh Wood dyed a few of the models' hair. "The color comes from the idea of a subculture. There was a need to make the color look raw. It shouldn't look too polished or too perfect," Wood says. "You first have to give the hair life, and then you take it away. You want the color to look lived in, and you can't do that on the first try," he says.
