Hairstylist Jenny Cho used René Furterer on Michelle Yeoh for the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday, January 15. Jenny shares her inspiration for the look and how she achieved it on Michelle, below.
"For today’s Critics’ Choice Awards with Michelle, my hair inspiration came from her stunning Carolina Herrera dress, which featured a classic shape with a chic, modern design," Jenny said. "I decided on a hair look that was pulled back into a modern updo, that felt fresh, elegant and sophisticated."
René Furterer Pro Tip: As a pre-shampoo treatment, apply the René Furterer Complexe 5 Stimulating Plant Concentrate, the essential first step for optimal scalp and hair health. This warming concentrate formulated with orange and lavender essential oils deeply cleanses and purifies the scalp to reveal naturally beautiful hair from roots to ends.
How-to get the look:
- On towel dried hair, I applied the René Furterer STYLE Sculpting Mousse from roots to ends, to help add volume to the style that I wanted to create.
- Next, I layered a dime size amount of the René Furterer STYLE Air Dry Cream for moisture and definition.
- Then, I misted the René Furterer STYLE Protect Thermal Protecting Spray to protect Michelle’s hair from heat tools, and blow dried the hair with a paddle brush, directing all of the hair away from the face.
- To help shape the hair and to have control over the knot that I wanted to make, I misted the René Furterer STYLE Texture Spray. This helped to add a little more grit, to achieve the undone knot.
- Then, I teased the front hairline area for a little lift, sprayed the René Furterer STYLE Finishing Spray, and gently pulled the hair towards the crown into a ponytail. I secured it with a hair tie.
- Lastly, I applied a little bit of the René Furterer STYLE Modeling Paste to achieve the shape, and secured it with bobby pins. For final touches, I misted the René Furterer STYLE Finishing Spray, to lock in the hair in place.
