When Wella Professionals announced its Project The Now contest on Instagram in October, colorists from all over answered the call—entering photos of their work on color-blocked hair. On the line was the chance to win $5K in cash, salon upgrades, education credits, and to immortalize the winning look as a Wella-branded technique.
The big prize has gone to Connecticut-based colorist Jesica Mesa and her face-framing color block look (formula here) for her client, Gina. Mesa enhanced Gina's natural hair color—dark caramel with red undertones—and applied bands of honey blonde around her face.
Contest runners-up, who won $2K worth of salon upgrades and education credits, were colorists Katya Averina of New York and Stephanie Walker of Ohio.
