The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has announced that Stéphane de La Faverie will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on Jan. 1, 2025.
De La Faverie joined Estée Lauder in 2011 and serves as its Executive Group President, overseeing many of the corporation’s brands including Jo Malone London, The Ordinary, and Le Labo.
Prior to that role, he led the Estée Lauder brand and is credited with modernizing its product rollout, marketing, and technologies, acquiring a new generation of consumers and expanding the brand’s popularity in major global markets.
De La Faverie will succeed Fabrizio Freda, who announced his intention to retire earlier this year after more than 16 years with the company.
Other corporate changes include William P. Lauder stepping down from his role as Executive Chairman. He will continue to chair the company’s Board of Directors.
Lauder is the grandson of Estée Lauder, who co-launched the cosmetics empire in the 1950s with her husband Joseph.
“My decision to focus solely on my role as Chair of the Board represents an important evolution for the Lauder family,” he says.
“Our family’s longstanding day-to-day management of the company is evolving and reflects my desire to focus more on the overall strategic direction of the company.”
