With Pride month in full swing, luxury hair brand, Balmain Hair Couture, and non-profit, Strands for Trans, are collaborating to bring gender affirming haircuts and styling sessions to the Trans community. Additionally, 10% of all Balmain Hair Couture’s U.S. online sales throughout the month of June will be donated towards the activities, operation, and expansion of Strands for Trans.
Strands for Trans is bringing gays, straights, women, men, anyone, together to create more trans-friendly barbershops and hair salons. Inspired by the trans flag, Strands for Trans offer salon owners a barber pole sticker to be visibly placed outside of one's salon as a symbol for change. The design is a signal to trans people that they can feel safe, comfortable and welcome in salon chairs. Balmain Hair Couture believes hair is one of the most powerful transformative tools an individual can wield. Among many transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals, the obstacles faced when not only choosing a hairstyle but maintaining the quality and health of the hair (especially during transition) can be a complicated and stressful ordeal.
In addition to the Balmain Hair Couture’s donation this month, select salons across the country will be offering free, gender-affirming hair treatments to the trans community to select influencers, utilizing Balmain Hair Couture’s carefully curated selection of products including hair care, hair fragrance, styling products and tools.
