Meet Nick Stenson's Mentee and Ulta's Rising Star

While some high school kids were struggling to find their way, Gilad Goldstein (@myguiltycrown) was attending technical school and working as a salon assistant, getting a jump-start on his career. Now an Ulta Beauty Salon artistic educator and a new member of the Ulta Beauty Design Team, he has high hopes for his journey that’s only just begun.

AHA MOMENT
I competed in a SkillsUSA competition in high school and made it to nationals. I was so moved by the training and the talent that every competitor brought. It made me realize that the possibilities in this industry are limitless!

TRAINING DAYS
After completing a cosmetology program through my technical high school, I trained to become Color Certified and Designed Certified with Redken at the Redken Exchange in New York City.

CLAIM TO FAME
Along with educating onstage with Ulta Beauty at shows like America’s Beauty Show in Chicago and Premiere Orlando, I’m nominated for NAHA Team of the Year 2019 with my fellow Ulta Beauty Design Team members.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
You can find me on Instagram at @myguiltycrown.

WORDS TO LIVE BY
“Just be authentic. People can tell phony from the real thing.”—Nick Stenson

SECRET WEAPONS
Redken Iron Shape 11, and Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender to add texture to my braids and styles.

MY MENTORS
Nick Stenson [Ulta Beauty vice president, salon services and trend] and Ammon Carver [Ulta Beauty chief artistic director] mentor me always. They are educator and leadership goals!

BUCKET LIST
I want to visit Asia and immerse myself in the culture for artistic inspiration, and I’d love to see my work in commercials and on billboards.

BRIGHT FUTURE
This year, we’ll be representing Ulta Beauty on the hair show circuit and educating over 8,000 Ulta Beauty salon professionals on trends and techniques.
