Georgia Rew’s business cards pay homage to her grandfather, a member of the Freemasons.
As a child, Georgia Rew lived with her grandparents and was extremely close to her grandfather, who belonged to the Masons—one of the oldest fraternal organizations in the world—for 60 years. Rew was so inspired by him and the family values she grew up with—honor, integrity, truthfulness and self-control, which are also ones that have been espoused by Masons for centuries—that when she opened The Pretty Pretty Collective in Los Angeles and San Francisco, she wanted her business cards to include a reference to the square and compasses, the single most identifiable symbol of Freemasonry. To that end, Rew arranged the scissors and straight razor on her card in a configuration that mimicked the emblem.
The design also represents the people who who are fortunate enough to be an integral part of her salon and reminds Rew that she is “a worker among workers.” The clean lines, black background and gold letters on the card reflect the classic, beautiful interior of the salons, which include a gold receptionist’s throne and black walls. The salon name, address, website and phone number are listed on the back of the card, which makes it easy for clients to book appointments.
